The Wheel of Fortune Tarot Card Description
This description is based on the Rider Waite Tarot Deck. We see a revolving wheel, in this card. The spinning wheel represents the passage of time and the ups and downs of life. Sometimes life seems to be going our way, and other times we feel less lucky. The good news is, when this card turns up in your reading, it means the wheel has spun in your favor. Your life is about to change, if it hasn’t already. Usually this card refers to a change in material wealth or status, it can bring expected and unexpected windfalls and opportunities.
To reinforce the magical power of the Wheel of Fortune, this card is stuffed full of mythical, astrological and religious symbols.
There are four winged creatures on the corners of the card, representing the four Evangelists in the bible, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John (The Lion, the Ox, the Man and the Eagle). Inside the wheel, you also find the alchemical symbols representing the four elements: Earth, Water, Air and Fire; as well as four fixed signs of the zodiac, Aquarius, Taurus, Leo and Scorpio. On the wheel, the letters T-A-R-O are usually interpreted as Yahweh, which is the Hebrew for God. The corners of the card are occupied with a bull, lion, eagle and angel; these are the guardians of the four directions or four seasons.
This wheel belongs to the Goddess Fortuna, who seems to spin it at random, but perhaps it is more to do with right timing and synchronicity. When this card appears in your spread, it is your time to be lucky. Of course, the more you believe you are lucky, the luckier you will tend to be. This is because positivity makes you more energetic and upbeat, bettering your odds in general in life. Perhaps this is what the Prophet Mohammed meant when he said: “Trust in Allah, but tie your camel first.”

When the Wheel of Fortune is upside down, then it turns in the opposite direction. This indicates a less lucky period, for example:
