Page of Cups Description

This description is based on the Rider Waite Tarot Deck. A young Page holds a cup. This is the Ace of Cups which represents the beginning of new love or passion. Emerging from the cup is a fish, and the Page smiles as he listens to what the fish has to say. The fish is imparting some happy news, and the Page will pass this message onto you. When this card lands in your reading, expect to hear some good news. As Cups represent emotions and feelings, this is likely to be news of a personal nature – to do with family, romantic relationships, health or even spirituality.

This Court Card Personality Traits

As a court card, he or she is a young person with an optimistic, loving and insightful nature. The challenge in life for this Page is to retain their sensitivity without withdrawing too much from the world. Ideally they will maintain a sense of wonder, while still learning from experiences. This card is sometimes associated with children on ‘the spectrum’ who are intrinsically intelligent and psychic. This Page is also associated with the arts, and having an eye for beauty.

This person has gifts and should not waste them. I say this, because he or she is a day-dreamer and prone to getting lost in their own world. Cups are associated with water signs in astrology, so this person may have Pisces, Scorpio or Cancer in their birth chart.

LOVE: What does The Page of Cups Mean when You Ask About Love?

When this card turns up in a love reading, the meaning will depend on whether or not you are in a relationship.

💖 If you are single, now is a good time to meet new people, either socially or in connection with your work. Let them take you places you don’t normally go to, and to do things which you wouldn’t normally find yourself doing. Love is in the air, you just need to be in the right place to find it.

💖 Love can also be found through the help of a dating agency (not a dating app). As the Page is someone who delivers news, it represents someone finding love matches for you. This could also include a friend introducing you to someone, or taking part in an event for single people.

💖 If you are in a relationship, this Page can predict a romantic proposal, pregnancy or childbirth.

CAREER: What does This Card Signify When You Ask About Work?

⭕ If you asked, did I get the job, project or college placement? The answer is yes. They loved you!

⭕ This Page can indicate a career in the arts, media studies or healing, as well as working with children and younger teens.

⭕ This card can represent receiving mediumship messages, or spiritual signs from the Other Side. Perhaps this is your gift worth exploring? Or maybe your gift has been blocked and now is re-emerging.

TIMING: Does The Page of Cups Predict any Particular Timeframe?

🕔 The Page of Cups is only a timing indication when you specifically asked a timeframe question. For example, if you want to know if something will happen, and when, then you need to draw two separate cards. These are in fact, two separate questions. This is a fundamental principle to understand if you want an accurate tarot reading – and it is core to my teaching in my book Tarot in 5 Minutes.

🕔 Using my timing method, the Page of Cups is about 11 months. If the card is reversed, timing will be slightly longer – so up to 16 months.

Karina’s Timing Method:
Swords are days. Wands are weeks. Cups are months and Pentacles are years. Please note this is my personal timing method. Feel free to adopt it (or not).

What is the Meaning of The Page of Cups Reversed?

When the Page of Cups is reversed then news is delayed. The fish falls out of the cup, and your news along with it. You need to wait a little longer.
