Knight of Wands Description

This description is based on the Rider Waite Tarot Deck. A young prince sets out from home on horseback, bearing his wand. He gallops ahead, energized by the idea of adventures ahead. We sense that this Knight is not on a single mission, but rather on a treasure hunt for excitement in general. If a risk needs to be taken, you get the feeling he’d leap without hesitation. This Knight often turns up when you have been stuck in limbo for a while, and just want some action.

All Knights signify movement. As the suit of wands represent action, this means the Knight of Wands triggers movement in your life, which spurs you to act. Whatever action he spurs, you can expect your daily routines to be up-ended.

While all Knights herald movement, there is a difference in the pace of movement.

Knight of Swords – rushes into action, events come suddenly and swiftly.
Knight of Wands – fast, but not as fast as the Knight of Swords.
Knight of Cups – slower than the Knight of Wands.
Knight of Pentacles – the slowest of all Knights, movement is very gradual.

Court Card Personality Traits

This Knight is usually a person under 30 who is a generous person. He is hot-headed and quick to love and hate. As a lover, he is very charming and sociable but hard to tie down in a permanent relationship. He is a free spirit and does not like his freedom restricted. This is the type of guy who usually needs an ultimatum, along the lines of are you in or out? While the Knight of Wands is a bit of a flirt, once committed, he is usually trustworthy. His astrological sun or rising sign is Aries, Leo or Sagittarius.

LOVE: What does The Knight of Wands Mean when You Ask About Love?

When the Knight of Wands turns up in a love reading, the meaning will depend on whether or not you are in a relationship.

πŸ’– If you asked will I find love? – then the answer is yes you will, and he or she will have some of the personality traits of this court card (see above).

πŸ’– If you have just met someone, then chances are they will be great fun to be with. However, you may be confused as to where you stand with this person, or whether or not you are actually dating. Give this relationship a little time to stew, but if things don’t gradually become clearer, don’t hesitate to give an ultimatum. Whatever the outcome, he or she will respect you more for it.

πŸ’– If you are in a relationship, you may emigrate or travel extensively with your partner. This is a good time for a joint adventure.

πŸ’– Occasionally this card predicts a long-distance relationship.

TIMING: Does The Knight of Wands Predict any Particular Timeframe?

πŸ•” The Knight of Wands is only a timing indication when you specifically asked a timeframe question. For example, if you want to know if something will happen, and when, then you need to draw two separate cards. These are in fact, two separate questions. This is a fundamental principle to understand if you want an accurate tarot reading – and it is core to my teaching in my book Tarot in 5 Minutes.

πŸ•” Using my timing method, the Knight of Wands is about 12 weeks. If the card is reversed, timing will be slightly longer – so up to 18 weeks.

Karina’s Timing Method:
Swords are days. Wands are weeks. Cups are months and Pentacles are years. Please note this is my personal timing method. Feel free to adopt it (or not).
