Justice Tarot Card Description

This description is based on the Rider Waite Tarot Deck. The Justice card shows a woman or androgynous person, seated on a throne, like the Emperor or High Priestess sitting between two stone pillars. Traditionally, Justice depicts a blindfolded woman. However, here the person is not blindfolded, which means the justice is channeled from a Higher Power who sees all. Justice holds the scales of Libra in one hand, in order to weigh evidence. In the other hand, she holds up a double-edged sword towards Heaven. Solid and unwavering, the sword acts like a cable connection, helping to keep her decisions true to spirit.

This card often appears when we are at a crossroads and need to take some decisions. It cautions you to keep your emotions in check, and to act more logically when dealing with a situation, people or plans. It might seem less glamorous to act ‘sensibly’, but that is what you are advised to do.

This card can also indicate an actual legal matter, or someone who works in the legal system. Grievances are heard and redressed.

Other keywords associated with this card: accountability, coming to an agreement, arbitration, being held to standards, compromise, receiving just desserts.

In other tarot decks, Justice is depicted as Ma’at, the Egyptian goddess of truth who weighed the hearts of the dead before they could proceed to the Afterlife. She can be seen as Themis, the ancient Greek goddess of Justice; or Goddess Dike or Dice, the spirit of moral order.

What Zodiac Sign is Justice Tarot Card?

The Justice Tarot card is assigned the star sign Libra. Libra is represented by the scales glyph, and is the sign of balance, justice and grace, both in personal and public life. In politics, this card can mean a trustworthy candidate, and when reversed, it means the candidate is deceitful and unlikely to follow through on promises.

Venus, the ruling planet of Libra, is assigned to Justice. Astrologers call Venus the planet of love, arts, money and relationships.

In astrology, Justice is assigned to the seventh house, which is ruled by Libra. The seventh house is where astrologers look for information on marriage, long-term relationship patterns and contracts in business partnerships.

The Justice Tarot card corresponds to the element air.

Romance: What does The Justice Tarot Card Mean when You Ask About Love?

When Justice turns up in a love reading, the meaning will depend on your question. For example, if you asked:

💖 Will I find love? Then love will come when you feel your life is in balance. By that, I mean you feel happy, calm and in control of your finances. In other words, if you feel ‘desperate’ in any part of your life, you need to address that issue first. This ensures you attract a balanced relationship. You may even meet someone who works in the legal or police system.
💖 Does he or she like me? Yes, they do. This relationship should not be rushed however, or you risk being under-appreciated.
💖 What is the future of our relationship? This card can indicate marriage, or alternatively divorce; as it is connected with signing legal documents.

Other Relationship Guidance:
💖 If someone has been wronged, the truth comes out. Someone receives their ‘just desserts.’

💖 If you asked, is my partner faithful? Upright this card means yes, and reversed means lies have been told.

In a health reading, Justice signifies the need for a more balanced lifestyle. Perhaps you are stressed, or are neglecting your body in other ways. This card acts as a reminder to act now, before triggering a chronic problem.

Occasionally this card is associated with hypochondria, and having unrealistic fears about health. Try to deal with those anxieties.

Health conditions associated with this card include: muscle strain, sciatica, herniated disk and bruising. This card rules: buttocks, lower back and kidneys.

YES/NO: Does Justice Mean Yes or No in a Reading?

❓ When you ask a Yes or No question and this Tarot card turns up, then the answer is Yes when upright and No when reversed.

TIMING: Does Justice Predict any Particular Timeframe?

🕔 This card is only a timing indication when you specifically asked a timeframe question. For example, if you want to know if something will happen, and when, then you need to draw two separate cards. These are in fact, two separate questions. This is a fundamental principle to understand if you want an accurate tarot reading – and it is core to my teaching in my book Tarot in 5 Minutes.

🕔 The Justice Tarot card represents September 23 to October 22. If the card is reversed, timing will be longer – perhaps up to a year later, same date.

Karina’s Timing Method:
I am using a traditional major arcana timing method here, based on the zodiac sign assigned to each card.

What is the Meaning of The Justice Tarot Card Reversed?

When Justice is upside down then there is unfairness in some situation. For example:

✔️There are delays in receiving money or an outcome in a legal situation.

✔️ Or, you don’t receive what you are due or what you were promised.

✔️ Someone is lying or placing the blame on someone else.

✔️Are you giving too much in a job or relationship, and not receiving enough in return? A reversal can mean an imbalance in giving and receiving.

✔️Other keywords associated a reversal include: frivolous law suit, exaggerated half-truths, unclear laws, liars, legal loopholes.
